The Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN), the student wing of the National Democratic Congress NDC, stated in a statement issued ahead of the Vice President’s public address that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is suffering from a credibility crisis and is attempting to buy some credibility in the eyes of Ghanaians.

According to a statement signed by Deputy Coordinator Mr Ekow Djan, “Students and the entire youthful community are extremely disappointed in him for his gross mismanagement of the economy.”

“After making such a fuss in opposition, reality has finally caught up with him today.” No amount of deceptive public lectures will be able to save him from failure. He’s got nothing useful to say!”

Meanwhile, a Senior Economic Policy Analyst at the office of the President, Dr Kabiru Mahama, has said the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will be touching on key issues including the e-levy in his public address scheduled to take place today, Thursday April 7 at 3PM.

Ghanaians have been asking the Head of the Economic Management team to break his silence on the e-levy which was passed by Parliament on Tuesday March 29 under a controversial circumstance.

The Minority staged a walkout during the process to pass the policy. They walked out after their Leader Haruna Iddrisu said the NDC MPs remained united in opposing the policy because, in their view, it threatened businesses.

Dr Kabiru said on the News 360 on TV3 that “The Vice President is going to speak on the e-levy and when he speaks we will now what his position on the e-levy is.”

He added that Dr Bawumia will be answering the questions about the economy which were asked by Ghanaians.

“He wants to address the questions of Ghanaians. He is going to speak to the concerns of Ghanaians about their lives and livelihood, about prices, about development. He is going to speak to Ghanaians about the future,” he said.
