Cape Coast, July 25, GNA – A forty-year-old farmer who had gone missing for 14 days has been found dead in a forest at Abura-Dunkwa, the capital of the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region.
The deceased, Mr Kojo Atta, aka “John,” a father of three, is believed to have been killed by ritualists and the body dumped in the forest.
After a rigorous 14-day search by a community search party led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Paul Akonde, the District Commander, the body of the deceased was found on Monday, July 23 in a decomposed state in a jungle, which is some few kilometers away from his home.
The deceased’s body was slouched under a tree near a swampy enclave with one of his boots removed.
The Police could not immediately identify any cuts on the deceased’s body or cause of death.
The body has since been buried upon the advice of Mr Emmanuel Commey, the District Environmental Health Officer.
The Police had commenced investigations into the case to unravel the mystery surrounding the cause of his death.
Residents in of community expressed shock at the sudden demise of the young man, described as affable and hardworking.
“We are shocked about this unpleasant information on the strange disappearance of the hardworking young farmer, and his sudden death,” Reverend Kojo Sakyi, a resident, told the Ghana News Agency.
He said the community was counting on the police to go all out to unravel the mystery surrounding his death.
