The Golden State Warriors and the New York Knicks will renew their rivalry with a 2020-21 NBA Regular Season game at the Chase Center in San Francisco on the morning of 22 January 2021, with tip-off at 05:00 CAT.

The Warriors have been all over the place in terms of their form this season, as the franchise adapts to a period of rebuilding and evolution which is necessary if they are to get back to a place where they can challenge for the NBA championship again.

“I think it’s just a matter of our team connecting and figuring out who we are and what we are,” said Lakerscoach Steve Kerr.

When asked how to keep Curry from getting frustrated when he’s not getting enough help, Kerr added: “It’s going to take some time because of the moving parts, new additions, also trying to ease James [Wiseman] along. So you look at Steph’s line obviously great scoring night, 35 points, but seven turnovers, Draymond [Green] had five. We’re not really in sync yet. And that’s going to take time.”

The Kicks, meanwhile, have struggled even more to find their form, though there were some signs of promise when they claimed a blowout 105-75 win over the Boston Celtics this past weekend – a game which had plenty for coach Tom Thibodeau to be positive about.

“We worked on our defense for a while and then covered some offensive things we wanted to work on,” Thibodeau said. “The main thing was trying to get up and down and practice out of the full court. I felt we needed work in that area, as well.”

In head-to-head terms, the Warriors and the Knicks have met in 342 Regular Season Games since 1946-47. Golden State have claimed 181 wins compared to New York’s 161.

The teams met just once in the Regular Season in 2019-20, with the Knicks winning 124-122 after overtime, thanks to a game-leading haul of 36 points from Marcus Morris.
