Holiday Destinations in Ghana

There are holiday destinations and there are HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS right here in Ghana. Let’s be honest, the year has been a mirror of all emotions, for most more negative and denting than others. It has also been a year of a series of unexpected activities confiding us and limiting our capabilities. Nonetheless, we are here and it is a far greater blessing to appreciate rather than reflect on what went wrong.
I’m all about peace and relaxation especially these times, and why not go for it if it doesn’t come to you?
In no particular order, below are the 5 holiday destinations to consider in Ghana… scratch that… to highly consider, in Ghana.

SOGAKOPE BEACH RESORTVolta Region
If you’re looking for an earthy, organic, relaxing yet luxurious atmosphere with access to free internet on any part of the resort, then Sogakope Beach Resort is the place to be.
The lavishness of Sogakope Beach Resort is home away from home without apology, and the food… ooooh the food! Talk of a perfect blend of local and international gourmet dishes saturated with exotic African spices, with all natural juices, adventurous cocktails, local rums and fine wines. Mmmhh!

VOLTA SERENE HOTEL – Volta Region
The Volta Serene Hotel is a classic example of when a name speaks for itself – serenity. This destination sits on a hill and is most ideal for individual, leisure travellers and of course honeymooners with its intimate atmosphere.
The creative brains behind the interior and exterior of the Volta Serene Hotel are flawlessly intentional with Africa’s rich calm tones white, cream, brown to avoid clutter and interior mess.

MAAHA BEACH RESORT – Western Region
Aside the professional service Maaha gives to every guest, this private beach resort is one of the best food spots for anyone looking for the right and serene getaway location close to the heart of the capital.
Maaha Beach Resort is plunged in Ghana’s distinctive culture, arts and crafts, and historical sites, and shares a border with Cote d’Ivoire.
Forgive me, I’ll have to stress on the food; it’s so good!
Certainly passes for a honeymoon destination for me, why? Privacy, affordability, great food, good pictures, beautiful sites… why not? https://maaharesort.com

ZAINA LODGE – Northern Region
Let me start with a beautiful review by Rovaughna Richardson, “I really enjoyed these tent chalets! The new manager, Mr Andrew was 24hrs newly posted to this lodge, but clearly a veteran. A night swim is a must, greeted by cob (antelopes) outside the room and a 2hr Safari was lovely and went by too fast…”
Ntiamoah Nana Yaw Obeng says, “had an amazing experience with the family over the weekend. Great atmosphere, natural wilderness and superb customer experience. Will recommend it. Kudos!”
David Pappoe shares, “Zaina is a thrill of experience. Staff and guides were excellent, serene environment where you become one with nature. So much wildlife to see. Highlight of our day was the majestic appearance of the elephants!”
Considering the luxurious spend at West Africa’s first Safari Lodge, we figured you can book a room at Mole Motel and pass an afternoon experience of some of the services at Zaina Lodge. The food is to die for, so is the infinity pool and a whole day’s experience.

COCONUT GROVE BEACH RESORT – Western Region
The historic Elmina Castle and Fort St Jogo are within 5miles of this breezy and relaxing location.
Not only can you swim in the pool and take a walk on the clean shore, you can actually swim in the ocean too – just don’t drown, please.
It is key to have a memorable experience at a vacation or honeymoon, and Coconut Grove has you covered with a golf house, horse back riding, table and lawn tennis, beach volley and soccer, an animal sanctuary with crocodiles, peacocks, parrots and other wild life suitable for couples, families, group getaway, and of course an individual experience.
