The All Teachers Alliance Ghana has served notice to demonstrate against the Ghana Education Service (GES) following the deductions for the One Teacher One Laptop initiative.

The protest is scheduled to take place on December 15.

The group had previously stated that it had come to their aware that, despite their legal action, instructors’ money had been withheld for the One Teacher One Laptop scheme without recourse to court processes.

This has come as a shock to them, as the initial hearing of the interlocutory injunction on the stay of distribution and deduction, filed on the 10th of November, 2021, had been rescheduled for the 14th of December, 2021.

“Many teachers are dissatisfied with this development and have expressed serious questions about how GES permitted the deduction of the laptop charge from their November professional development budget.”

“What’s more concerning is that the majority of teachers, particularly those in primary schools, have yet to acquire laptops.” The concern today is, “How can teachers be penalized before being given laptops?” They said in a statement.
