2021 Teachers Professional Allowance: Here are all the Deductions that Occurred
After delaying in payment of November 2021 salaries by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD), the teacher’s professional development allowance was also paid.
Information made available on the CAGD official website reveals that commercial banks were supposed to start crediting the accounts of employees on the 26th of November, 2021 but due to correction of anomalies that occurred during the processing of salaries caused the delay.
CAGD pays every government employee’s salary at the end of each month. However, the teachers’ development professional allowance is paid once a year on an accumulated basis. The scenario that arose during the professional allowance’s first payment in 2020 has not altered.
Apart from the Ghana Education Service (GES) making it mandatory for teachers to attend various seminars with their allowance, money is withheld or deducted from the source before it reaches the individual accounts of every teacher in the chalk fraternity.
The Government of Ghana started payment of the teachers development professional allowance in November 2020 and here are the deductions that have occurred and teachers take home;
