The German Football Association, the country’s governing body for soccer, has inked a new three-year contract with Catapult. Catapult’s video analysis technologies will be used by all 15 German national teams (including young levels), and 10 national teams will receive Catapult’s wearable devices.

Catapult’s Vector device will be worn by the players to track on-field movement and performance data. Catapult’s MatchTracker software, which analyzes videos from in-stadium cameras to display statistics on an opponent team’s playing methods, duration of possession, and individual player movements, will also be used by teams.

Germany’s national teams will use Catapult to optimize player performance and help reduce injuries. Catapult acquired SBG Sports Software last year for $40 million to boost its video analysis capabilities. Clubs in Germany’s Bundesliga soccer league were already among the 3,400 teams across the world to use Catapult’s wearable and video products. Other clients include teams across the NFL, English Premier League, MLS, MLB, NBA and Major League Rugby.
