The House of Commons has been adjourned by the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah, due to the inability of the house to establish an agreement on the discussion of the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-levy).

The meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 21, 2021.

Following a fight over Joe Osei Owusu’s ability to participate in the voting process as presiding Speaker, the decision was reached after both parties’ leadership and some senior members of the house were summoned to a closed-door meeting.

During the voting procedure on the contentious E-levy, there was a confrontation on the floor of parliament after the then first deputy Speaker, Joe Osei-Owusu, attempted to give way to the Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah, to take over proceedings so that the former could cast his ballot.
