Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the King of Asante, has raised concern about recent power outages in the Ashanti Region.
According to him, it has become a distressing aspect of their everyday lives in Kumasi, and it must be handled as soon as as.
He claims that the power outages have rendered his electrical appliances useless.
When a delegation from the Energy Ministry arrived at Otumfuo’s palace to apologize for the recent power outages and assure him that the problems will be resolved as soon as possible, Otumfuo was speaking.
When the Energy Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, made him a visit at the Palace and they were going to eat at his hall, the Ashantehene recalled how the phenomena of “Dumsor” welcomed him.
“One day he came to the palace and was served with his food, he was about it eat when the lights went off then I asked him what the issue it to warrant such power cuts in the region. He pleaded with me and said he was going to get it fixed,” he said.
“It is my prayer that you will work to address this matter because if the country will develop it will depend on the energy. The frequent power outages have destroyed all my appliances,” he told the Energy Minister.
