The Ghana Heath Service (GHS) has stated that they will engage the clergy to discuss ways in which they can observe the occasion while adhering to all Covid-19 protocols as part of measures to prevent Covid-19 infections from increasing in Ghana during the Christmas season.
Dr Patrick Kumah-Aboagye, Director-General of the GHS, stated that authorities are determined to ensure that this year’s Christmas season does not result in a high number of infections as it did last year.
On Sunday, November 28, he said at a press conference in Accra, “we are going to ensure that our logistics are prepared, we will continue our surveillance to be able to look at that, we are going to look at isolation centers.”
“Our contact tracing will be strengthened,” he added.
“We are going to work with religious organizations to ensure that all Christmas activities follow Covid protocols.”
“There will be strict enforcement of the protocols at the KIA,” he added. We’re going to step up our surveillance. We anticipate an increase in the number of people arriving in the country.”
