The Bono East Region has ended a five-day annual regional sports festival participated by 36 Senior High Schools (SHSs) at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman.

The objective was to select a formidable regional team in diverse sporting disciplines, to represent the Region at the upcoming national sports and games festival scheduled for Takoradi in the Western Region in October this year.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyan, the Regional Minister urged participants selected for the teams, to remain obedient and abide by instructions and advice of their coaches, as that was the only way for them to become successful sportsmen and women.

He emphasised the need for them as individuals to remain disciplined to propel them onto great heights to benefit their schools, region and country.

Mr Adu-Gyan assured them of the Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment and support for the growth of sports in the region, as there were many untapped sporting talents.

He urged the new regional team to go and compete strongly to win medals and trophies.

Alhaji Adams Muazu commended those selected for the regional team for justifying their inclusion and stressed discipline and hard work as the factors to gain success in the field of sport.

He appealed to philanthropists and non-governmental organisations to support the laudable cause in developing sports in the region as one of the ways to showcase the best of the young region to the world.
